Where do my recordings go?
Into a folder you choose the first time you record (the picker opens at your Music folder). Open it any time from the app's toolbar, the Dock menu, or the menu bar, and change it whenever you like in Settings.
The app says access was declined, but I granted it.
macOS applies the Screen & System Audio Recording permission only after AppTape restarts. Quit and reopen the app (the onboarding screen also has a “Relaunch AppTape” button), and you'll go straight to the recorder.
Why does it need Screen Recording permission if it only records audio?
macOS groups system-audio capture under the “Screen & System Audio Recording” permission. AppTape uses it for audio only — it never records your screen, camera, or microphone.
I bought the unlock on another Mac.
Open the unlock sheet and choose Restore Purchase, signed in with the same Apple Account. Your unlock carries across all your Macs.
Which formats can it record?
MP3 by default, plus AAC, lossless ALAC, and WAV. Pick your default in Settings; it applies to your next recording.
What does it require?
macOS 26 (Tahoe) or later.
